Designing and developing websites and web applications

In 2024 we will be releasing Xam, the web-based exam testing system. It will have the following features:

User Interface: A web-based interface that allows users to log in, access their exams, and take tests. The interface will be user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Exam Management System: Allows instructors to create, edit, and manage exams. The ability to set time limits, question types, and scoring rules.

Question Database: A database of questions that can be used to create exams. This database will be easily searchable and organized by subject matter, difficulty level, and other relevant criteria.

Test-Taking System: Allows students to take exams online. Includes the ability to navigate between questions, save and review answers, and submit the exam once completed.

Grading System: Automatically grades exams once they are submitted. Handles different question types, including multiple-choice, essay, and short answer questions. Uses OpenAI to preliminarily grade essay questions, aiding examiners.

Reporting and Analytics: Provides instructors with data on exam performance, such as overall scores, individual question performance, and student feedback.

Security: Robust security features to ensure that the test is taken only by authorized users and that the integrity of the exam is maintained. This includes features such as secure login, randomized questions and answer choices, and timer control.

Multi-strata user accounts: with role-based access controls, there will be a granular approach to defining which users have access to which features.

  1. Super administrators: full control, including:
    1. Billing and subscription management: Only the Super Administrator can manage the organization's billing information, upgrade or downgrade the subscription plan, and view invoices or payment history.
    2. Data retention: The Super Administrator is responsible for managing system-wide data retention policies
    3. Integration with external systems: Super Administrators can set up and manage integrations with other platforms or systems, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), Single Sign-On (SSO), or third-party applications.
    4. Security settings: Super Administrators can configure advanced security settings, such as enforcing two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users or setting up IP address restrictions.

  1. Administrators: defining roles and assigning permissions. Additionally:
    1. Exam settings: Administrators can configure settings related to exams, such as the allowed time for each exam, the number of attempts allowed, and whether the exam is timed or untimed.
    2. User management settings: Administrators can add, edit, or remove users within their assigned roles, such as adding new instructors or exam-takers. They may also assign and manage user permissions within their domain.
    3. Notifications and communication settings: Administrators can set up email or SMS notifications for exam-related events, such as exam reminders or grade announcements. They may also configure the templates and content for these messages.
    4. User interface customization: Administrators can configure certain aspects of the user interface, such as the color scheme, logo, and other branding elements to match the organization's identity.

  1. Exam coordinator/proctor: scheduling and overseeing exams. They can manage exam schedules, create exam sessions, assign proctors, and monitor exam progress. They can also view and manage exam-taker details.
  2. Examiner/Instructor: This role is responsible for creating, editing, and grading exams.
  3. Exam-taker/Student: The primary role of this user type is to take exams. They can access assigned exams, submit answers, and view their scores and feedback. They also have access to a dashboard displaying their exam history, upcoming exams, and any other relevant information.
  4. Guest/Observer: This role may be granted to users who need to access the system but do not have any specific responsibilities. They can view exam schedules, exam results, and other non-sensitive information without the ability to make changes.
